Fraggle Family

Ive been thinking about fraggle families and stuff. I tried to research it and apparently the creators wanted to include baby fraggles (like the on in the opening theme) but quickly scrapped the idea because of the leading questions about how fraggles reproduced and gave birth. eek!

But we also have examples of fraggle familial terms, uncle gobo, uncle matt and even red's "Hi mom!" in an episode. So that shows that some form of family exists, but we ever actually SEE any of the fraggle fives parents. so i present, my headcannon:

Fraggles do in fact hatch from eggs! Fraggles 'mature' faster than people, similar to birds i guess? After a fraggle enters their 'teenage' stage, they either move away or are sent away by their parents to a different part of the rock. (i believe this is how they would help with genetic diversity) Fraggles are pack creatures and can not thrive on their own. Some fraggle families do stay together though, like red and her mom apparently.

Personally, i like to think siblings stay in the same part of the rock usually. When gobo left his home, he was lead by uncle matt and they moved to our main part of fraggle rock together.

Boobers parents didnt take care of him for the short amount of time they are supposed to, and sent him away. (that or they got sick and passed, either way i feel like it could be the root of him paranoia)

So when poor little boober was found shuffling around he was quickly taken in by mokey and her family, and when mokey reached maturity, she stayed until boober was old enough to leave home. Then they both found where they live now.

Wembley is tricky, I know him and Gobo are like brothers but i dont know how far back i want that brotherly bond to go. Hatchlings? children? well into adulthood? Wembley hasnt lived in the rock for long(him being the youngest), So its unlikely gobo and him knew eachother before they he came to the shows setting, unless they were from the same place. Its unclear to me, i just cant decide. Either way, They are brothers now and thats what matters:)

I don't hate OG Gobo Fraggle because he's a jerk, per se, I hate that 90% of the time it slips by without notice and the person who he's being a jerk to and painted as being in the wrong. He's not a jerk for laughing at Red's umbrella idea to bring back the water; Red's a jerk for being a woman speaking out of turn. He's not a jerk for kicking Wembley out of his home for not being able to find a job; Wembley's a jerk for not having a job in the first place. That icks me so much. If his toxic traits are interrogated and explored as wrong, I would be so much more invested in this character. Season 1 bttr Gobo was a little too squeaky clean, and I'm really into seeing Gobo with some grime on him (and treated as such)

Woober Rock:Chapter 5

The time had come for the five fraggle friends to meet up at Gobo and Wembley's den. Red arrived first. Mokey would be in the grand kitchen finishing up lunch. That left Boober. "Where is he?", Red asked. "Maybe hes takin' a nap", Gobo offered. Wembley shook his head,"Boober hates naps Gobo" Gobo shrugged," Since you know him so well hiw bout you go get him" Wembley made a small sound of confusion before he realized his brother was being serious. Maybe, he thought, maybe this would be a good time to tell Boober what he saw. It shouldnt be a secret, right? This is what Wembley thought as he walked to Boober's den. He probably should know but what if when he finds out and he worries?Wembley would hate to have Boober worry. But if he already knows hes already worrying! He just needs to make sure Boober knows that Wembley thinks hes beautiful no matter what.

As wembley juggled these ideas in his head, he came to the entrance to Boober's Den. He knocked," Hey uh Boober? Gobo and Red are waiting on you! Um, but, Before we go back over there I really need to talk to you!" Boober yanked the curtain open, paws shaking,"Come inside "

Wembley and Boober sat on the couch together. Boober held his tail in his lap. "So...Um, Last night, or uh- This morning, I woke up before you", Wembley spoke softly, as softly as he could. "...okay", He could tell Boober was anxious of every word that came out of his mouth. He just needed to try and not scare him off," And Boober I want you to know that I respect your boundaries and I understand if this makes you really upset. And I want you to know you are the absolute most handsome fraggle in the whole rock", Wembley couldnt tell what emotion Boober was feeling. It made him nervous. "I saw your face, before you woke up. Just a little bit of it and I didnt stare! I just saw it cus your hair was out of the way"

Boober was quiet. He had so many thoughts. His face? Thats what this is about? It was so sweet of wembley to tell him. Honestly if he wanted anyone to know about his eyes, Wembley would be the fraggle. And here he was comvinced Wembley was going to cut him off because he found out about his crush.

"Its okay ", He finally said and Wembley let out a sigh of relief. "I... I don't like showing people a lot cus I used to get teased. But I'm not super upset you saw it", Boober's shaky paws reached for his hat and he laid it in his lap. Then he parted his hair and for the first time in years, he looked someone in the eye. "I dont mind as much because its you, Wembley"

Wembley's heart was going to jump out of his little fraggle body. Boobers face, His eyes, Everything about him in that moment made Wembley feel on cloud nine. He was gorgeous. His eyes were two different colors, one brown and one baby blue. They looked cloudy. And the rest of his face was just...wow. He had sadly deep bags under his eyes, but his face was soft and kind. "Boober..."

"Hey Wembley! Boober! The lunch bell has already rang what is taking so long!", Wembley and Boober both scrambled to get themselves together and Wembley watched as Boober pushed his bangs back into his face and pulled his hat back on. Then he turned to Wembley. Wembleys face flushed. He gave Boober's paw a gentle squeeze and rushed to the curtain, " Sorry guys we got busy!" "Oh yeah? Doing what?", Gobo raised an eyebrow. "Nothing! Lets go! Im starving!", Wembley Lead the way to the Great Hall.

Have a couple of Ditzie head canons cause I think they're interesting

They act as a sort of clock/day and night cycle in the Rock; their light dims when they sleep, dimming the Rock as well. (A very long time ago they used to be nocturnal, but soon adapted to the diurnal schedule of the Fraggles.) Fraggles know when it's night and when to sleep when they see the lights dim.

Ditzies populate the most used tunnels and caves, so ones that haven't been walked through in awhile tend to be dimmer.

Because Ditzies only dim when they sleep, the Rock is never fully dark. To get true darkness, a Fraggle would have to travel far outside the Rock without singing anything.

Ditzies tend to follow Fraggles around the tunnels for awhile, even if they're not singing, because they know it's very likely the Fraggle will start singing eventually. (They won't follow Fraggles if they get too far from the rock)

Most Fraggles are vaguely aware of the Ditzies. They may not know exactly what Ditzies are, but they know that singing will get a darkened cave to light up. (Most Fraggles don't know that tunnels outside of the Rock aren't lit up.)

There are some groups of Ditzies who live outside of the Rock and live off of natural music, such as streams, whistling wind, and other insects and animals

Dear Nephew Gobo, today I discovered that silly creatures give out striped colorful flags. I’m not quite sure why flags are such an important gift in Outer Space, but the silly creatures seem to be really happy about getting one. One of them handed one to me, and I must say, this one really speaks to me. I hope I can get one for you and your friends eventually.

Human Mokey Fraggle! Ik her hair is canonically short but that’s probably just because it would be difficult to make a Fraggle puppet with long hair that looks good. Anyway she’s too much of a hippie to have short hair.

Also the eyes on her arms are because she’s the type to absentmindedly doodle on herself.
